ABOUT THE ARTISTS OBJECTIVE
The Artists Objective was created with you, the artist in mind.
A place for you to realize your dreams, goals and creative desires.
A place for you to find the resources and support you need to move forward.
Melissa Wolf founded The Artists Objective because there was
no website or resource that addressed the daily business issues of artists.
Not only in career counseling but in real time resources that you can use.
She also started a gallery. Having watched the art world over 30 years she knew that
buyers will not go to a website designed for artists career counseling so she also founded Melissa Wolf Fine Arts at the same time. A gallery that will develop into an exhibition space that will conduct itself much in the same way that a gallery with a physical location does. She chose to do this to maximize exposure for the artists that exhibit there.
Very soon The Artists Objective will launch The Artists Index which will be a consumer resource for artists. A listing site including exhibition opportunities, grants, fellowships and residencies that artists will be able to count on to advance their careers. Other sites may list whatever comes to them and it's up to the artist to filter it out. We'll do the work for you and you'll be able to do all of your business here, from downloading the prospectus to filling out forms on the gallery's website and more.
FUTURE PLANS
include a Chat Room for Virtual Critiques, Online Workshops and Online Consultations. You will be able to interact with artists from all over the world and get feedback on your work at set times.
We are also considering a gallery opening workshop. Going to openings by yourself can be daunting or awkward. We will go to dinner first, get to know each other, discuss goals for the evening. Then we will go to four or five openings. Then we will go for dessert and discuss the results. On that note we would like to do success teams for artists. Six week groups which start with a half hour of business tips and then discussion about the progress you are making, critiques of your work and your goals and how to get there.
Longer term plans include offering websites to artists and email packages specifically designed for artists. It is our feeling that other places just don't do justice to your work and most don't offer you control over the .html language or search engine controls. They charge you incremental fees that add up here and there. We want to do better but this will take us a while. We want to do it right and that means research and learning. Stay tuned though. As we learn we will share it with you. Follow us on our blog: http://www.theartistsadvisor.blogspot.com
