Barkpaper
The original paper of the Western Hemisphere is still made today, just as it was in the 1300s. For hundreds of years, the Otomi Indians have searched the countryside for the bark from downed fig and mulberry trees. They wash it in the streams and then boil it in lime water. Then, they beat the damp, pliable fibers and lay them out in the sun to dry. This beautiful, primitive paper can be used for bookmaking and bookbinding, decorative work, drawing, painting, collages, or painting with opaque paints, such as gouache. Acid free. Individual sheets measure 16" × 24" (41 cm × 61 cm).
Ogura Lace Papers
A strong yet beautiful paper, machine-made in Japan from 100% manila hemp. To form its distinctive lace pattern, the long, heavy fibers are separated by water falling on the newly-formed sheets to create holes within the paper. 108 gsm, no deckles.
Screenprinted Nepalese Lokta
Handmade in Nepal in vibrant primary colors, these Lokta sheets have a soft gold brush over their surface that creates varying patterns. 100% Daphne paper, no sizing, 4 deckles. 22" × 30" (559 mm × 762 mm), 20 gsm.
Lama Li Lokta Papers
Handmade and air-dried in Nepal, lokta fibers produce strong sheets with interesting variations. This paper is a staple for fine artists, printers, and crafters. Each sheet is acid-free with four deckled edges. Sheets measure 22" × 30" (559 mm × 762 mm) . 60 gsm.
Thai Embossed Papers
These papers are handmade in Thailand of 100% kozo, with four deckled edges. Embossed papers are pressed right out of the mold, and take on the shape and relief patterns of the die itself. They're excellent for the book arts, and they also make beautiful invitations and displays. This paper has an authentic impression of nature's true elements. Individual sheets are white. High relief patterns use a heavier weight paper, while the lower relief patterns use a middle-weight paper.
Screenprinted Napa
Exotic Napa-style patterns are screenprinted in gold or copper metallic ink on richly colored 100% Kozo paper. Made in Thailand. No sizing, 2 deckles. 25" × 27" (635 mm × 686 mm), 25 gsm.
Thai Reversible Paper
This double-sided lamination of Crepe Unryu or Chiri combines to offer strength and great variety. Sheets are handmade in Thailand from 100% kozo and are neutral pH. 56 lb (50 gsm) weight, 23" x 35".
Thai Unryu
Long, swirling strands of kozo provide contrast and texture in these traditional style unryu papers. Lightweight and translucent, choose from a wide spectrum of colors ranging from pastels to rich, vibrant hues. Each machine-made 100% kozo sheet measures 25" × 37" and is produced in Thailand.
Thai Mango Paper
Natural pigments and fibers form the color and soul of these papers. Though machine made in Thailand, they look and feel like delicate, handmade paper. Their pulp is harvested from sustainably-grown mulberry trees and Kozo plants. Mango leaf inclusions, no deckles. 25" × 37" (635 mm × 940 mm). 35 gsm.
Garden Papers
These handmade, 100% Kozo papers are adorned with rustic elements from the garden. No two sheets are alike. These soft papers make lovely cards or gift wrap, and work well for books and lampshades. Individual sheets measure 21" × 29" (533 mm × 737 mm), 65 lb. Imported from Thailand.
Yasutomo Japanese Rice Paper Sheets
This fine Hanshi Japanese rice paper for brush writing or calligraphy is mouldmade in the centuries-old Japanese tradition. It provides excellent quality at an affordable price for beginners as well as professionals.
Hosho
Hosho is a traditional kozo (mulberry fiber) paper that doesn’t shrink or tear easily, making it ideal for woodblock or line printing. Hosho paper is sized.
Kitakata Paper
Kitakata is manufactured from mitsumata. Mitsumata fibers produce a soft, smooth surface with a natural gloss. The silky touch makes this paper a favorite. Sheets measure 16" × 20" (approximately 40.5 cm × 51 cm), and are not sized and acid-free, with deckle edges. Weight is 30 gsm.
Mulberry Paper
Mulberry Paper is handmade from the inner fiber of the mulberry to produce an exceptionally pure, translucent paper, used by paper and painting conservators in repair and lamination. It is very strong, despite its light weight. Sheets are 24" × 33½" (approximately 61 cm × 85 cm), not sized, and acid-free, with four deckle edges. Weight is 45 gsm.
Cork Papers
This beautiful paper is made of a thin layer of real cork laminated to a thin paper backing, which yields an elegant, warm, and natural appearance. The paper folds, drapes, and scores easily, making it ideal as a book cover paper or for a variety of decorative uses. Great for scrapbooking or covering items such as boxes, frames, or albums. It also resists adhesive bleedthrough. Individual sheets come in roll form and measure 15" × 20" (381 mm × 508 mm).
Egyptian Papyrus Paper
Papyrus is the oldest writing material that is in existence today, dating back at least 5,000 years. In fact, the very word "paper" is derived from its name. These light-colored sheets are formed by laying thin strips of plant stalk in horizontal and vertical (crosswise) layers. They have better mechanical strength than many modern papers of the same weight. Use them for any kind of writing, drawing, or painting. Paper sizes are approximate, edges may or may not be frayed.
Thai Marbled
Flowing patterns created by hand form these exquisite marbled papers. Occasional imperfections are part of the character of these hand-decorated papers and add beauty and variety.
Books by Hand Marbled Papers
These highest-quality machine-made papers from France feature intricate combed patterns and hints of metallic ink. They lay flat, drape well, and resist glue bleed-through. Use them for book making, backgrounds for framed photos, and a wide variety of decorating projects. Paper is patterned on one side only. Acid-free. Sold by the sheet.
Corrugated Paper
This brightly colored corrugated paper is rigid on the width and flexible on the length. It can add texture and dimension to decorating projects, parade floats, paper sculpture, displays, and bulletin boards. It has color on one side, white on the back. A free color chart is available.
