Canson Ingres Drawing Papers

Colored in the pulp to ensure light resistance, Canson Ingres papers follow the same lightfast color range as the Mi-Teintes papers. They are lighter weight than Mi-Teintes, with a "laid" finish for chalk, pastel, pencil, or charcoal. Ingres is a 65% rag, gelatin-sized, acid-free paper that is ideally suited for drawing and printing. Individual sheets measure 19" × 25" (483 mm × 635 mm).

Canson Mi-Teintes Drawing Papers

This classic French paper has a "vellum" texture on the top side and a flat surface on the reverse, both equally suitable for pastel, oil pastel, chalk, pencil, watercolor, and acrylic. It is a heavy, 98 lb (160 gsm) sheet, with a high rag content (66%) to ensure long life without deterioration. The entire range of 42 shades are colored in the pulp to be highly light-resistant and acid-free. Mi-Teintes papers are available in individual sheets that measure 19" × 25" (483 mm × 635 mm). Also available in 25 sheet packages of 8½" × 11" sheets (216 mm × 279 mm).

Fabriano Tiziano Paper

You'll see and feel the difference as your pastels bite into the extraordinarily toothy surface of this pastel, charcoal, and pencil drawing paper. Available in White and more than 30 delicious colors, it features a grain that runs parallel to the long side. Acid-free. 40% cotton. 160 gsm.

Daler-Rowney Canford Papers

These acid-free papers have a smooth, matte surface that accepts pencil, chalk, pastel, marker, and crayon —but their usefulness goes far beyond that of a drawing paper. Hahnemühle Bugra Pastel Paper

This paper is mouldmade in Germany. It's a 100% alpha cellulose, duo-surface paper, with a laid, toothy texture on one side, and a smooth texture on the other, which offers the artist a choice. Hahnemühle Bugra is specifically made for pastels and charcoal, but it works well for pencils, graphite, and other drawing mediums. Sheets are 65 lb (130 gsm) weight, neutral pH, highly lightfast, and measure 33" × 41" (84 cm × 104 cm).

Hahnemühle Premium Velour Paper

You'll love the way pastels and charcoal look when stroked on a soft, velour surface. The colors adhere naturally to the velvety surface, but it is recommended that spray fixative be used often. Hahnemühle applies velour generously and consistently to a smooth acid-free paper. Individual sheets are approximately 19" × 27" (48 cm × 69 cm). 260 gsm.

UArt Sanded Pastel Paper

This premium-quality , neutral-colored sanded pastel paper combines quality, consistency, and durability. The 400 grade has a moderate "bite," while the 800 grade is super fine. Both grades accept many layers of hard or soft pastels, yet also work well with other mediums. The low-profile surface allows for easy erasing. Each sheet is pH neutral and acid-free .

Art Spectrum Colourfix Coated Pastel Paper

It's called "Colourfix" for the obvious reason. This very permanent, lightfast coated paper withstands all manner of artistic experimentation (and even punishment). These papers are used successfully in practically all media — pastels, charcoal, pencil, oils, acrylic, gouache, inks, silverpoint, and even watercolor. The natural toothy surface is ideal for pastels, pencil, or charcoal, as it will hold multiple overlays of color without the need to fix between layers. The absence of fixative allows the velvet bloom and vibrant color of pastel to be preserved. (Apply a final light spray of fixative if desired.) The unique, fine tooth surface is produced by screen printing Art Spectrum Colourfix Primer onto a heavy weight Hot Press watercolor paper. Available in 9" × 12" (229 mm × 305 mm) or 19½" × 27½" (495 mm × 686 mm) sheets. 140 lb (300 gsm).

Sennelier La Carte Pastel Card

Sennelier applies finely ground, pH neutral vegetable flakes by hand to a 200 lb, pH neutral board stock, creating a paper that is slightly abrasive, yet has a perfectly smooth and uniform tooth. This greatly enhances pigment adhesion, so that less fixative is required. It offers an excellent surface for any dry media. Individual sheets measure 19" × 25" (48 cm × 63 cm). Use of wet media not recommended.
