Da Vinci Artists' Retouching Varnish
Use Da Vinci Retouching Varnish when a painting appears to have gone flat, perhaps because too much oil was absorbed into the ground, to bring back the original quality and character of the paint surface. A retouching varnish can be applied as a preliminary varnish once an oil painting is dry to the touch, to allow for exhibition or shipping. The oil paint layer underneath can continue to dry through the film. Later on, it can be removed before final varnishing, or it can be left underneath.
Sennelier Turner's Retouching Varnish
Use this light, fast-drying mineral spirit-based varnish to restore original brilliance and luminosity to colors that have dulled or sunken in, on unfinished works. Or use it as a temporary final picture varnish. .
