Masterpiece Heavy Duty Stretcher Strips

Masterpiece stretcher strips are constructed from solid fir, using clear strips with no joins. The absence of joins in even the longest bars insures that canvas tension is even throughout. These are our premium-grade stretchers. These professional grade stretcher strips resist warpage. Their tight fitting tongue-and-groove design creates a taut and sturdy support frame for cotton and linen canvas. Each strip measures 2-1/4" high × 1-7/16" deep. Note — Price is per strip, not pair. Masterpiece stretcher strips will not interlock with Fredrix brand stretcher strips.

Best Medium Duty Stretcher Bars

These high quality stretcher bars are more than just a piece of wood! Their rounded back edge reduces surface friction and is designed to keep the canvas ½" from the stretcher bar. This feature helps insure that there will be no ghost impressions on the canvas. Stretcher bars are made from kiln-dried, knot free, straight white pine. Each strip measures 1½" high × 1¼" deep. Note — Price is per strip, not per pair. These stretchers are only for use with each other and Best Medium Duty Cross-Braces. They will not interlock with other brands.

Best Pro-Bar System

Prevent the bending, warping, and twisting that results from humidity or dryness with BEST’s unique museum-quality Pro-Bar System. Stable and strong, it’s designed so that the canvas is always a full half-inch from the stretcher bars to avoid ghosting on the canvas. The combination of wood and recycled aluminum also creates a stronger, more rigid support for painting on a large scale. Only kiln-dried pine is used to make Pro-Bar stretcher bars, which is attached to a specially milled 3/32” aluminum bar. The pine bar offers a smooth, rounded edge and solid surface for stapling or tacking. Bars measure 1-1/2” thick x 1-7/8” wide. BEST Cross Braces are recommended for frames larger than 60”. BEST Pro-Bar Aluminum Corners are required to complete the system. Use four corners per frame, or eight corners for optimum strength. As an additional option for quick, easy canvas adjustment, use BEST Corner Keys.

Cross Set

One set comes as a pair of braces, which fit between the stretcher strips and the internal Straight Brace. Size given is the outside dimension of the canvas frame. A Cross Set is never used without a Straight Brace. It is possible to use two or more Cross Sets on one long, rectangular canvas.

Best Masonite Corners

To insure that canvas corners remain square, nail one Masonite corner to each corner on the back of each canvas stretcher bar. Pieces are cut at an exact 90 angle, with pre-drilled holes for effortless mounting.
