Winsor & Newton Triple-Primed Canvas Rolls

Winsor & Newton
Triple-Primed Canvas Rolls

This is a high-quality canvas manufactured to Winsor & Newton's exacting standards. Each roll of medium-grain 8 oz natural cotton duck has been coated with acid-free sizing and two coats of highly pigmented acrylic primer. Its heavier weight makes it ideal for all techniques. Use with oils (including water-mixable oils), acrylics, and alkyds. Balanced absorbency and tooth prevent sinking of oil colors and offers better adhesion. The rolls are packaged in reusable plastic bags.

Caravaggio Double-Primed Canvas Rolls

Caravaggio Double-Primed Canvas Rolls

Caravaggio canvas has been manufactured in Italy for more than 30 years using only the highest-quality materials. Raw materials are selected with the utmost care, then produced by specialized employees and high-tech machinery, resulting in a top-quality canvas. Caravaggio canvas is double-primed with acrylic using state-of-the-art equipment. Rolls are available in five textures that include Universal Grain (Medium), Fine, Extra-Fine, Rough, and Extra-Rough. All Caravaggio linen is produced, milled, and primed in Italy. Caravaggio jute is imported from India in loom state and then prepared in Italy. Random bumps, lines, and other surface irregularities are a characteristic of Caravaggio canvas.

Claessens V.A. Belgian Linen Canvas Rolls

Claessens V.A. Belgian Linen Canvas Rolls

Up to the beginning of the 20th century, many professional artists prepared their own canvases. As more and more amateurs took up the brush, the demand for canvases prepared by traditional methods grew. In 1906, in the middle of Belgium’s Flax District and near the River Leie, Victor Claessens founded a company to produce artist-quality canvas, using and refining the tried-and-tested methods that had been passed down from generation to generation. More than a century later, Claessens NV is still operating in its original location in Waregem, Belgium. Victor Claessens’ descendants have made a conscious choice to retain a small-scale approach to production and to honor the traditional methods for preparing artist's canvas. Today much of the work is done by machine, but the core of the production process has remained unchanged. Claessens linen canvas is made entirely from natural materials that are grown, sorted, and processed with the greatest of care. Differences in the color, composition, and texture of these natural materials may occasionally lead to slight variations in the finished canvas. From an artistic and creative point of view, such variations are considered more of a pro than a con. This respect for tradition and experience has made Claessens a household name with artists around the world. Craftsmanship and attention to detail are key elements in the manufacture of Claessens linen canvas, guaranteeing an archival support of exceptional quality that enhances the creative process.
